FAQ
FAQ
Short answers to the most common questions about Nestino, privacy, and pricing.
Pricing
What does Nestino cost?
The beta is free. We do not sell any plan and no plan can be purchased.
The pricing page shows the plans we intend to launch later. For as long as the beta runs, the same free terms apply to everyone.
Will I have to enter a payment card?
No. During the free beta we bill nothing and collect no payment details — no card number, no bank account, no billing address.
Family roles
What family roles exist, and what may each one do?
A family has five roles: family admin, parent, member, child and guest.
A family admin and a parent can invite a new member. Only a family admin can manage members. Only a family admin can delete the family. A family admin and a parent can approve tasks a child has completed.
Does a child need their own email address?
No. A child account signs in with the family code, a name within the family, and a password. It has no email address attached, so a child does not need an email address to use Nestino.
Kids & GDPR
What is the minimum age to create an account?
An account can be created by a person aged 15 or older. Fifteen is the age at which, in the Czech Republic, a child may give their own consent to the processing of personal data under Article 8 GDPR.
Children under 15 take part in Nestino as family members managed by a parent, not as account holders in their own right.
What data do you store about children?
For a child account we hold a name within the family and a password. No email address is attached to it.
What each person in the family may do is governed by their role — a child completing a task has it approved by a family admin or a parent.
Data & privacy
Where is my data, and who do you pass it to?
The application and its database run on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. That is where your tasks, expenses, receipts and family accounts are stored.
We use Amazon Web Services in the eu-central-1 region (Frankfurt, Germany) to send operational email. For email delivery, personal data therefore does not leave the European Union.
Our contract is with Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, registered in Luxembourg, and we have accepted its data processing agreement (DPA).
We use no tracking cookies.
How long do you keep data?
A sign-in session lasts 15 minutes. A refresh token lasts 30 days and can be used only once. A password reset link lasts 1 hour, and a family invitation 14 days.
A member removed by an admin stays visible to the family for a further 7 days. The appearance and language cookies last 1 year. Technical error reports and server access logs are kept for 30 days.
Notifications
How do I turn notifications on?
Notifications are turned on in your browser. We store the delivery address your browser issues, the encryption keys needed for delivery, a browser identifier, and the times of creation and last use.
One thing to know during the beta: if you add Nestino to your phone home screen, the link to the notification settings page is missing, and without an address bar you cannot reach it. Open it in a regular browser instead.
Why did the same notification arrive twice on my iPhone?
The cause is not iOS, as this answer used to say. One phone could have two live delivery channels registered with Nestino, so the notification reached both. Since 17 September 2026 the older channel is retired whenever you subscribe again. If a notification still arrives twice — typically after reinstalling the app — you will find the stale channel under Settings → Notifications → Devices receiving push and can remove it.
Cancellation
How do I close my account?
You close your account in the app under settings, in the irreversible operations section. You confirm with your password and by typing the confirmation word the dialog asks for.
If you are the only admin of a family, the closure does not go through — the app lists which families are affected, and the admin role has to be handed to another member first.
Once the closure succeeds you can no longer sign in, and you disappear from your families active lists immediately. The account itself remains for a further 7 days so the closure can be undone; after that period we remove it.
Can I download a copy of my data?
You request a copy of your data in the app under settings, in the irreversible operations section. We record the request and handle it manually within 30 days.
No file is produced at the moment you submit the request, so there is nothing to download yet. If you submit the same request again within 24 hours, no new one is created — it joins the one already waiting.
